WORKING FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE:

We were within 2 votes of never having slavery in our country, at all, at its inception. Yes, John Quincy Adams had a slavery bill on the House of Representatives floor after his presidency was completed. He did that to the day he died. He was almost assassinated, he was brought up on charges of high treason for this but his praying people sure saved him. He lived yet the anti slave bill was blocked. His protegee working with him (J.Q.Adams diaries say) –Abraham Lincoln– finished the death bed promise he made and he would be assassinated. Yes, the slaves were freed yet all his plans to set right wrong things–stalled. Where was the praying church? Did they even know to pray for their leaders?

WHAT ABOUT OUR DREAMS?

Besides talking with people, I have read over 20,000 books so far. (Ok, so I’m a nerd.) Have your dreams been struggling? In interviews recently, I heard the Irish suffered slavery but it ended, which allows for rebuilding and healing to start. Its tough to rebound from, but possible. Africa’s slavery still happens but being similar color — its bad black guys against their victims. Its Muslim driven- so… religious, I’m told. Integration in America really began to happen late 70s. So, its not a Civil War — we are still whining experience. That made me think who is living NOW who has not seen the pain of slavery that should have been finished over a century before? Are the Millennials young enough to be able to claim that blessing?

I keep reading about white evangelists who integrated blacks into services –and got beaten to a pulp by angry whites for doing that -wow. Yet, our heroes just got up and did it again, what they felt was right. The people of color I interviewed said hearing about these heroes don’t comfort them. That was then.

WHAT HELPS?

One interview really touched me. She said:

1. We need to hear about faith, to hear what can change things NOW. We need the Word.

2: In a perfect world–who of faith has our skin color, and managed, by faith again, to make huge changes regardless of any current natural laws and experiences?

What we dig into changes us and our circumstances. Guard carefully what God is having you do and get into. Would you say the areas that would help my interviewee would be inspiring to you personally, as well? Leave comments for me, please!
