This is a time to build and see dreams realized. Someone says — its a crazy time! How can that be true? Its simple. History shows that Awakenings are the best times for setting right injustices, getting laws changed, get leadership walking right but with so many people being born again, it just reduces the sheer meanness of people against the races (not just black). In Awakenings, Christians stop watching and start doing. They say– “no” to meanness and they do what makes it stop, with the favor of God on them.
How can we see changes happen? I think of AA Allen and the power of prayer. He integrated his staff. 1000s of death threats, attempted assasinations later, one guy actually ended up with supernatural help shooting himself in the foot. ) AA Allen continued on. He did 30 day fasts. Was that needed for the war he lived through? From the over 20,000 books, primary documents and diaries I’ve read, patterns emerged.
“Metastudy” Listing For Awakenings:
1. Lead out by prayer, by fasting. How big is the war you want to win? Get in there and stir things up. We need people saved and for some to rededicate their lives.
Two million transformed America in the Prayer Revival of 1857. 1860 census population –31.5 million –so around 6% were born or rededicated their lives to Christ. 2019 American census –328 million people. If the base population were as Bible believing as in 1857-1860, 6% being born again or rededicating their lives means we need to target faith to see 19.7 million new or rededicated believers. Jesus is LORD. Reinhardt Bonnke saw over 74 million in Africa saved. Doesn’t under 20 million seem tiny, in comparison? We serve a BIG God who likes to do the impossible.
2. Take time to hear God. Jesus was an expert on “away” time. We need to be, also. What is it we need to be praying and doing. God has the plan!
3. Obedience. When we had a seed to give or do that we refused — Can we also hear the sound of Jesus tears? I was going to refuse a call years ago and I heard the sound of His tears. It really forever changed me. Here I am, Lord!
Prayer, fasting, obedience changes where you live. We can do this and we can see our nation at rest. The early church took a fully pagan world and saw their world changed, one salvation at a time. Are we going to let down those heroes? Greater is He who is in us –right? Let’s be the proof that the Word works today. Please leave comments below–you awesome people who pray!
