My son Daniel stands in front of the “hill” the Lord told me to build.

Do you know how to hear the Lord’s voice? The Lord will tell us where to be to keep us in green pastures and the land of Goshen. We can hear the Lord’s voice. You might say –what?! However, its true:

John 10: 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

He loves to share–how to safeguard you and your household (whether near to you or far), how to position so you are financially and practically looked after. We must listen for His guidance and wisdom. We have this promise:

Luke 8: 17 For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.

One of the early reasons I made Jesus my Lord was I was a nerd yenning to dig through His wealth of research. (He has the best ever libraries and things to teach us.)

How do I listen?

1. I take a Word document, or my journal/notebook/pen. Write the date.

2. I start off reading John 10:27 and I say in the Name of Jesus, I shut down all other voices. Only the Lord is permitted to speak to me.

3. I pray and praise Him for a few minutes to set up His welcome party, then I give Him an hour to talk.

4. I. Shut. Up. This. Is. His. Time. Not the time to petition etc. Wait on Him.

5. I write down what I hear, what is said to me. John 2:5 Do as He tells you to do.

Go an hour and hear nothing? You were there, faithful. I tell my sons. Be there, faithful. an hour before you need to get up. “Duty is mine, Results are God’s”. (John Quincy Adams quote) Show up on time, every time. Are you doing this M-F? or only on Shabbat? Whatever you are directed to do, do it. Be disciplined and faithful.

Wait. It might be a single word He says. Go research. Find out what it means. It might be a comment, and sometimes it might be a talk where He talks and you quickly write and write. Sometimes He asks if I have questions then He answers. The point is be faithful. Do this at least on a Shabbat and if you wish, to start your day, every day. I do it to get my schedule for the day since I can do many things but prefer to do God things.

Its bizarre?!
So you get told bizarre things. I rarely understood the things told me when they were told. For example, God told me about this weird thing called an “enter-net”. It would show up after this weird box people sat in front of for hours began to take over offices. This enter-net let you do business, watch TV and do finances over it. You could even talk to people (it would make our home phone lines obsolete). Then I was shown a monitor so slender, it could be hung on the wall like a mirror. Then a monitor that could be seen through, as a hologram type image. Then there was the small boards like typewriters but were small rectangles and you could hold them on your lap. Then see through boards you typed on.

Honestly, my largely unsaved family thought I was nuts. Years of laughter. Whats your latest crazy story now? I quietly hung my sons stuffed toys in nets, to remind myself of the things said to me and told my sons who listened, all my fantastical “stories” as God shared them to me. My older son was four when he got his 1st “box” and age 7 when the internet became part of our family business. We were the first in the area to get it and our business clients for the first five years wanted us to put computers/internet into their businesses, too. In one of those talks, God said one word: “auto desk” and it was like –what? A car-desk? What is that? A car with a desk? We became 3rd party AutoDesk developers selling our speed-up menu system to help their main design drafting/engineering product.

The journey of the bizarre hasn’t ended. We are about to enter the apocalypse but with Goshens –all over. Some of us are about to see what its like to be an Abraham of our areas, our time, if we listen and position for it. You know he fed 500 families a day back in his era. We don’t have to watch the whole world crash and burn with nothing to do to help them. We don’t have to watch all we worked in and for just get destroyed, either. We don’t have to lose the lives of people we love.

We are entering –and for some have already entered –a time of justice. It cannot be stopped fully everywhere but you can be positioned to be in Goshen. Listen to the Lord. He will position you.

When I was in CA, in one of those “listen to God” times, I was told to build a hill in front of my house –on the postage area of grass we had. It was like a joke, so little area, such a tall “hill”. I put a tree on top of it, planted a garden of ferns around it. In the photo at the top, my six foot tall son stands in front of the “hill”. In this photo almost a decade later, the “hill” to the left of our dog seems small but it did what it needed to do, when we needed it.

To the left of our dog is the remains of that “hill” I built 10 years before.

A few months after I built this hill and everything was planted, we had a drainage ditch that always worked but unexpectedly was blocked a mile away. All the houses of my streets had flood water damage in the garage and/or the home. My home was near the top of the incline. My neighbors above me on both sides of the road had damage. The “hill” blocked the direct flow of water coming around the curve of our road and my garage stayed dry –nothing could get around it. My leaky backyard pool had been down almost 2 feet of water. (I was so embarassed we had neglected repairing it). The pool filled that day and the waters covered the sidewalks of my small back yard and came within a 1/2 inch of entering my home. The rain just stood over us and fell. Until it didn’t. When the waters were within a 1/2 an inch of entering the back of my home, I told the Lord, thank you–enough. It stopped.

Texas just had a taste of what is coming. My request is if you haven’t have time or confidence to try listening to the Lord, to try it now. Set that hour a week, or five times a week or as much as you and the Lord need. The season about to land will seem to last and last and won’t hit all areas the same or fairly/unfairly. However, God has the plan to bless you, you awesome sign and wonder. He has good news, the direction to position for what is coming. Make Him Lord over you, Lord over what He has to bless you with, Lord over what is coming so you are the blessing exception not the disaster “rule”.

Texas disaster showed God may have more options than power to share with you, since water in many areas tanked too. God knows the last two years have hit many households in practical financial ways. He can give you the updated version to position finances like He once showed me ‘enter-net” and “autodesk”. He has ideas, processes, inventions, or just where to go. Listen. He might even tell you just how much HE LOVES YOU.

You can do this, if you will. Have a great weekend.
